Constanza Macras has been invited to participate in the third edition of the Rudolf Augstein Foundation’s mentoring program for artists. Once again, renowned mentors will guide ambitious emerging talents and experienced artists with great potential through pivotal moments in their careers.
The Mentoring Program
The third round of the nationwide mentoring program under re:balance – Gender Equality in the Arts will begin in late September 2026 and run through April 2027. The mentoring program is aimed at ambitious artists from all artistic disciplines (all women as well as trans, intersex, and non-binary individuals). As mentees, they will work in tandem with a mentor for seven months to plan their next career steps. The mentors are distinguished by their experience in the field, excellence, and expertise. The goal of the program is to help participating artists take a significant leap forward in their careers.
What to expect as a mentees
You apply with a specific issue that you would like to address together with your mentor over the course of the program, such as an artistic challenge or a strategic question regarding your own professional positioning. Working in tandem, you will meet at least five times over seven months, both in person and online. The practical support from your mentor and networking with the other mentees will provide you with inspiration for your next step in your development. A workshop program in the form of a weekend seminar complements the program and equips you with practical skills for your professional development as an artist. The focus is on topics such as self-presentation, negotiation skills, and balancing family and career. As a sparring partner, you will also have another mentee by your side with whom you can discuss your respective progress in the program and support one another.
The application period begins on March 16 and runs through April 19, 2026.
Nationwide and across all disciplines: Apply now for the re:balance mentoring program!
A 25 percent gender pay gap among freelance artists shows that gender equality in the arts has still not been achieved. To help address this, I am serving as a mentor with re:balance—the Rudolf Augstein Foundation’s initiative for gender equality in the arts. Artists from all disciplines across Germany can apply to participate in the individual mentoring program until April 19, 2026.

About the Rudolf Augstein Foundation
The Rudolf Augstein Foundation is an independent, non-profit foundation under civil law based in Hamburg. For 20 years, it has been carrying forward the issues that inspired the pioneer Rudolf Augstein. It enables artistic experiments, strengthens critical and independent journalism, and improves the opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people to get started and develop. One of the central focuses of its funding is projects that critically address social injustices and initiate processes of change. The vision of an artistic landscape with gender equality is therefore closely linked to the focus of its funding activities.
